CRUMBLING
È necessario ascoltare Crumbling con gli occhi per comprendere l’utopia distopica che incombe sul presente. Un immaginario virtuale che sbriciola il filo dei rapporti umani, immergendoci in un mondo fittizio che nasconde la solitudine. Un sorriso, che è reale anche quando è un sogno, diventa un segnale luminoso, un abbraccio aggiusterà il confine umano anche per chi non ci sarà.
Fondati nel 2018 dalla cantautrice Camilla Fascina, gli EDWIG sono un gruppo alternative rock frutto del contatto con la scena underground berlinese. Le sonorità

sono ricche di chitarre distorte, bassi sintetizzati e una linea melodica ipnotica. Gli Edwig alternano melodie morbide a scariche di energia, con l’obbiettivo di condurre l’ascoltatore ad esperire una sorta di Serendipità.
Ad aprile 2018 gli Edwig hanno vinto il premio “Akademia Music Award for Best Pop Rock song” con il loro singolo Juliet. Premio conferito dall’ Akademia di Los Angeles. Anche i singoli successivi Serendipity e Passenger in Berlin, tratti dal loro EP di debutto, sono stati accolti positivamente dalla stampa italiana e internazionale che ha accostato le sonorità degli Edwig al mondo Muse, Placebo, Lacuna Coil.
Il 31 maggio gli EDWIG hanno presentato il loro EP di debutto in apertura ad Alberto Ferrari dei Verdena al festival #noplastic MUSIC FOR THE OCEANS, organizzato da Ama Music

Festival in collaborazione con Sea Shepherd Italia. Il 6 agosto 2019 gli Edwig hanno suonato in apertura alla band americana Clearwater Creedence Revival al Festival di Fiamene (Negrar- VR).
Gli Edwig sono: Camilla Fascina (voce e chitarra), Leonardo Zago (chitarra e synth), William Moor (batteria), Andrea Maggio (basso).

articoli usciti sul mio progetto Edwig, che danno un quadro generale sui lavori precedenti a cui si aggiunge questo singolo.


CONCEPT: L’idea di realizzare questo video è nata dopo che ho visto un documentario sugli Hikikomori: in Giappone questi ragazzi vivono e stanno chiusi per anni dentro la loro stanza. I genitori non riescono a farli uscire.

Il rischio più grande di cadere in questa forma di isolamento si presenta negli anni tra la scuola media e le superiori. Gli Hikikomori raccontano di avere difficoltà nel presentare il loro corpo agli altri.

Per loro la tecnologia, più che un sistema di connessione e socializzazione, diventa l’unico mondo possibile e li porta alla reclusione.

La loro forma di esclusione sociale è stata paragonata alla tradizione dell’HARAKIRI, il suicidio che si pratica in Giappone, secondo un antico rituale samurai, dovuto alla perdita dell’onore.



Mi ha colpito molto il fatto che questo fenomeno si stia diffondendo anche in Italia, tanto che è stato creato su FB il gruppo “Hikikomori Italia”.



Nella stanza del video io sono diventata un robot. Non distinguo più la realtà dall’immaginazione. Ho il visore sul volto per isolarmi dalla realtà. Ma nel mio video provo ad offrire un messaggio positivo: si può uscire da quell’isolamento grazie alla musica e alle amicizie.
